Default Windows 98 SE startup problem

Re-installed windows after fixing up some problems in my home
computer, and this is what is still unresolved:
- at Win startup and before logo shows on screen, it asks "press F1 to
continue, DEL to enter setup". Never did this before.
- it shows "floppy disk(s) fail (40)", but drive A seems to be
working.
- after loading Windows I get "PCI Multimedia Audio Device" looking
for a driver. I already have another audio driver installed.
- File Find return many other unrelated files to what I have asked to
find.
- cannot access newsgroups but I can access the internet and e-mail.

Please, help me as soon as you can and PLEASE send replies by e-mail
so that I can read the solutions from my computer by webmail (I am
typing this from work since I have no access to News Groups from my
computer). Thank you so much.
- Giovanni

Please don't ask the same question in multiple places, as it makes more work
for everyone. Answered in .performance.

Go ahead and enter CMOS, and see what listed at drive A, then select 3"
floppie or Auto.
From the Start button, Settings, Control Panel, System, Device Manager,
Advanced, look for the device with the yellow square indicating failure,
high light, Properties, Disable, OK.
Reinstall Internet Explorer 6 from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
If you are already use it, it will stop installation, where apon you choise
Outlook Express and force a reinstall.
