friends, an ear or two;

what is this linux live cd all about? how does it work? is its
purpose to solve 98se problems via....?

i have heard the down load is large, even huge, is it available in
shops as a cd?

another question. is google earth workable on 98se? i thought i saw
someone use it a few years ago, and they only had 98se? if it doesnt
work in its raw form, has someone made it workable via programming?

lastly,, the pinball-game (space cadet) works on windows m.e, which
is a part of the 9x family, so how come i cant make it work on 98se?
do i have to download a file or something to make it work?

The Google search engine will provide the information you seek.
For availability in local shops, you must ask locally.

Later operating systems use programming methods unavailable in
earlier OSs, e.g. XML. It is usually cheaper to upgrade than to tinker
with the OS to add features unavailable when it was on the market.

For new linux live cd are in to the 3D and run on NVIDIA and ATI proprietary
drivers
in so need more ram to run like 500MB and up!
it work on a 250MB RAM but slow

is google earth workable on 98se?
it's 3D and run on NVIDIA and ATI Video proprietary drivers
If you do have a 3D Video Card all you can have is the 2D google earth
The Older Version did work on Win98, But the newer for XP and up only!

Carlos:

Linux live CDs are mostly intended to try a version of Linux before
you install it. There are some live CDs that are intended mostly for
diagnostics or troubleshooting a system that will not boot or are
infected with a virus that prevents other virus removal tools from
running. You can find a selection of Linux Live CDs he

http://www.livecdlist.com/

This site:

http://www.frozentech.com/

will sell you CDs/DVDs if you don't want to download a Live CD.

You can get the last 98se version he It's in English although
the site is not.

===!!!!! LOTS of other great stuff - this applies to everyone,
actually. Not /that/ hard to figure out what is what. !!!!!===

http://windows98.ic.cz

I DL'd GE and installed it and it is a TOTAL waste of time.
Maybe if you get the latest version and pay for the extras, it's
impressive. But the free 98SE version is boring as hell. AFAICT,
not real-time live, just a lot of disk space. Flying around the
globe and seeing fuzzy buildings (at best) did not impress me,
also the movement control sucks. You really need a very recent
machine with a lot of RAM and the latest version if you want the
real thing.

Go to a cyber cafe and get your fill and then move onto more
important things, like pinball ;-)

Update: Just checked. AS much as I could make out from the
Slovakian (or whatever), they ran out of space on their server
and decided to remove the last 98SE GE (maybe it wasn't very
popular - see my comments), but they say you can write to
"p_filip___AT___seznam.cz" and he will do something - like post
it to a file sharing site or maybe email you a big attachment.
Who knows. Not worth it IMO, as I explained above.

lastly,, the pinball-game (space cadet) works on windows
m.e, which is a part of the 9x family, so how come i cant
make it work on 98se? do i have to download a file or
something to make it work?

Google for ' "space cadet" pinball 98SE compatibility ' (use the
" but not the '). There are MANY gaming sites which should help
you. There are also a LOT of other pinball games if you can't
make this one work - I haven't ever seen it, so it MAY be
/uniquely/ charming, but I sort of doubt it.
