Resource meter tells porkies?
High, I was around a friends house the other day, and he has this strange
behaviour of system monitor. Some software, he showed me freecell, but it does it at other times as well, seems to make the processor usage on the graph go to 100 percent and stay there, but the little resource figures pull back once the activity dies down and are what you would expect from a 233mhz machine, though thereafter the machine seems jerky. is this some known bug of the utility, or is this some early warning of a potential problem. Brian -- Brian Gaff....Note, this account does not accept Bcc: email. graphics are great, but the blind can't hear them Email: __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________ |

It is a bug in the utility. System Monitor is well known for its wholly inaccurate
reporting of processor usage. Have your friend use Wintop from the old Win95 Kernel Toys, or Process Explorer from Sysinternals: http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/fr.../procexp.shtml -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Brian Gaff" wrote in message ...
