Default SSL Port "Plug in" for Win98?

Hi,

My Win98 laptop(s) includes WinXP on the D: HD partition (dual boot
PC(s)). My Verizon ISP sent a notice that I will have to use a SSL port to
receive/download email from their POP server after 04-28-15. Note: I have to
use WinXP to send email via Agent 7.2.

Is their a SSL port "plug in" for Win98? Note: I use
KernelEx V4.5.2 in Win98se.

Thank You in advance, John

Win 98 should be able to use any common network port, if you have a firewall
running you'll have to check that it isn't set to block the port that you're
Email server uses. The actual port can vary depending on the server, but it
should be easy to find in a "setting up your Email client" type guide on
their website.

You'll need an Email client that supports the version of SSL that the server
wants, plenty should be available and your current one (whatever it is) may
well already work if set up correctly.

I really don't know why these internet services want to force users to use
encryption though. It's great as an option, but why force users into the extra
overhead when they might not care if the information they were viewing was
displayed on the side of a skyscraper, let alone potentially interceptable
during its passage through the interwebs? Grumble...

Hi Billy Ray,

I think I left out some information.

Agent 7.2 (email client like Outlook Express) is on both Win98 & WinXP
partitions in the same computer with exactly the same settings. I have the
SSL port selected in Agent. In Win98, when I launch Agent and try to
download my email, I get the following message, "Connection closed
unexpectedly by server". This message produced by Agent.

When I reboot the computer into WinXP, using the very same Agent 7.2
with the exact same settings, I can send and receive email without any
errors.
John

? you have SSL port selected

when I launch Agent and try to download my email,

Agent Connection closed unexpectedly by server = Agent had a Time Out by
server

In Outlook Express it will
Pop-up Asking you
If needed more
Time to Connect

Agent 7.2
(So email client Is Not like Outlook Express)

It did Asking you
If needed more
Time to Connect

When I reboot the computer into WinXP, using the very same Agent 7.2
with the exact same settings, I can send and receive email without any
errors.

That show That Xp

Agent Connect Faster
to the email server

You use KernelEx V4.5.2 in Win98se

Guy 98 know more about
Running Agent with KernelEx

We may here from him today

I look for more Info Today Too
