Yeahbut winders98 is, like, 15 years old, like, innit, eh granpa?

(So why are you reading these newsgroups?)

I was like putting on my best 15yr-old impression.
I still have a few venerable apps from w98 days.

I still use a few apps from the Win3.x days. Shrug.

And DOS. I use XTREE GOLD - and its editor 1word - to edit three files
(my quotes file that goes into my signatures, and some HTML I use for
printing Dilberts); I think the keystrokes are remembered by my arm and
hand, rather than my main brain.

new is not necessarily better, and old is not necessarily worse.

A sentiment I often repeat.

To be candid, I've been remiss, and haven't dipped into DOS for several
months now. Once in awhile I feel the urge, however, and enjoy that simple
text screen - and working at the command line. :-)

As for most "updates" and "update messages" - not in my pool!
"New is not necessarily better" is a severe understatement, IMHO. :-)

Oh, and as I said in the other group, regarding that cute last line of
yours:
"Never be led astray onto the path of virtue."

Alas, I don't think you need to worry too much about that one these days,
unfortunately :-)

I actually switched from Xtree to Norton Commander clones some years back. I
don't remember what it was that got me to do it... probably it was while I
was running Linux full-time and found that UnixTree just wasn't the same...

(I tried XtreeWin, but something about it rubbed me wrong. IIRC it was (at
least in part) due to the fact that I couldn't change it to use standard
Windows shortcut keys.)
