(Most browsers can do this via a right- click on the page area). I've seen a few web pages show blanks recently, while having source code. Don't blame the browser. If a browser works most times in a complex world of (often broken) code it's safe to assume that if the code is broken enough, the browser can't cope no matter how good it is. It is often possible to read paragraphs of text in the source code anyway, but it can be irritating wading through reams of crappy source code to find them! Wow! true to form google finally fixed the problem. Today can view and respond again! Regarding the html source view. very cluttered and very interesting. Thanks for the 'heads up' on being able to do that. good way to get at the EXACT website addresses. |

I remember there was a Perl-based GetIplayer or some such, used for BBC content, mainly to fetch the higher quality AAC from the iPhone feeds rather than the lesser stuff usually made available. it was a running battle for the coder, trying to keep up with the BBC's changes. Browser links to direct download of files usually depend on a declared size, a finite file. Streams are different enough that special buffering must be arranged at both ends, and very time-dependent processing must be used to get them. There is also a lot of content-policing going on too. (And to some extent, that's true even for SWF files). |

...snip... I don't know why so many people seem to gravitate to eternal september, with the log-in bull**** it requires. Why don't you simply use a server that doesn't require login authentication - like news.aioe.org? nor more importantly reply through it, keep getting kicked back. It's your own fault for not using a better (more ergonomic) server like AIOE instead of a stupid-ass server like maternal september. No log on for me, they just keep sending them the second I get on line with auto updates every 5 minutes. That's one of the problems, if you don't keep up you drown I thought you recommended to try e-s |
