good FLV player?
Once again looking for a good FLV player for 98. Seems as FLV technology
develops newer FLVs won't play. Yes I have VLC. Usually plays everything but just don't care for it. Have Winamp too. Only plays SOME FLV's with FFDSHOW. Would like a small standalone package. Tried ANVSOFT v2 this morning and it would be OK were it not for 'calling home' every startup checking for newer version! Any good software you can pass along? |

Can't you set your firewall to block that particular software (or won't it work at all unless it has called to mummy)? (I presume it doesn't have a setting where you can turn off this "feature".) Can't you set your firewall to block that particular software (or won't
it work at all unless it has called to mummy)? (I presume it doesn't have a setting where you can turn off this "feature".) Your presumption is right, no SW option to turn off! I don't use a firewall but reply on a NAT router, HOSTS file and a few other tricks to keep things at bay. Did consider a firewall may be the only way to stop it phoning home. ZA on my W2K setup works well but generally like to keep software add-ons to a minimum (better performance/stability/usability that way). And, seemed easier to see if someone here had found something I did not! Still looking ... |
