Default Windows ME going to the bone yard

Looks like I am being forced to upgrade from ME to something else (can't file
my own taxes this year). I would like to send faxes from home and play games
without getting messages about my graphics card needing a new driver. This
computer was donated by the local college (Katrina survivor), had Windows XP,
drive died, put in new one, got Windows ME. Question is: What would be the
least expensive, and easiest way to do what I need ?

About your only option is to purchase a Windows XP Home Upgrade
package, which should be around $100, and install it. Your existing
Windows Me will qualify you to use the upgrade version.

Good luck

Besides Ron's suggestion - and depending on how much you are prepared to
'have-a-go', you could always try downloading the 'latest' WinMe compatible
driver (probably free of charge) from your graphics card manufacturers web
site (a Google search should find it)

If you don't know the make and model of your graphics card, you can
determine its details by downloading Belarc Advisor
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
which will give you an audit of your computer, including hardware.

If you are able get the graphic card drivers, 'Remove' the old one ones
first using Device Manager in Safe Mode, re-boot and when asked, direct the
installation process to your freshly downloaded drivers.

Good luck
