Problems loading windows me - Stop Error Inaccessible Boot Device
I would be greatful for some help. My windows me computer recently booted up
part way looked like it was starting to load windows and then came up with a blue screen specifying stop error STOP 0x000007B etc etc. Inaccessible_Boot_Device. I think it may be due to a previous virus. I would like to know how to bypass this error, get into the computer, retrieve what data I can and then as a last resort I will probably reinstall windows me and reformat the hard drive. I would be happy to get in touch further. Thanks for your help. |

That sounds far more to me like a Win2K/XP error message than one from Win
Me. A STOP 0x0000007B error is often an indication of hardware problems or corrupted disk drive drivers. This error can also result from a boot virus, file system problems or problems with the motherboard hard disk controller. -- Mike Maltby Sam wrote: I would be greatful for some help. Problems loading windows me - Stop Error Inaccessible Boot Dev
Mike, Thanks for your quick response. It is definately Windows Me in my
particular case. How do you think I could get past the error and into the computer. I have operating system cd and a oem startup disk downloaded from boot disk com. Could I reinstall windows without losing any existing data or better still get the data off? "Mike M" wrote: That sounds far more to me like a Win2K/XP error message than one from Win Me. Sam,
Could I reinstall windows No, that's not your problem. Your problem is that the computer appears to lose contact with the hard disk during the boot. Before you proceed you need to check whether you can see the hard disk or not. Boot to DOS using a Win Me boot floppy and at the A:\ command type DIR C: and then click Enter. Do you see listed the files and folders in the root of your C drive displayed? If not then you have hard disk problems. -- Mike Maltby Sam wrote: Mike, Thanks for your quick response.
