Downloading a programme to Windows ME computer
Is it possible to load Office Home and Student 2007 to an old computer
running ME. I know that ME is not supported by MS now but I would a reply of either Yes or No. I have a computer running under XP but wish to load the programme to my son's computer as his Word programme has completely dissapeared! Many thanks |

Downloading a programme to Windows ME computer
... his Word programme has completely disappeared!
A bit more than a simple yes or no, but ... .... has your son tried searching for, and running winword.exe? The program itself *might* still be there and only the shortcut (etc) missing - unless it has been uninstalled or deleted. Regarding Office 2007 suite, might be worth taking a look at "2007 Microsoft Office system requirements" http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/su...668651033.aspx Which basically states that "Operating System = Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, or later operating system" However, as you only want 'Word', you *might* be able to selectively install that option and try it for yourself. At worst, it will warn you that it can't be installed on WinMe. Be sure to set an SR point before you start - just in case! Mart "Eric H" wrote in message ... Office 2007 will NOT install into a Win 9x system
IIRC, the latest version of Office that will install is Office 2002/XP the same applies to the individual components. -- Noel Paton CrashFixPC Nil Carborundum Illegitemi www.crashfixpc.co.uk "Mart" wrote in message ... ... his Word programme has completely disappeared! Thanks for the clarification Noel, never tried it myself. Still wonder if
the 'old' winword might still be lurking there somewhere - it's certainly not the first time I've heard of it being 'lost', only for it to be 're-discovered' Mart "Noel Paton" wrote in message ... Alternative would be MS Works.

Sadly, not ALL versions of MS Works include Word, but rather a (poor)
alternative word processor. And, not all Works utilities talk (directly) to Office. Left Hand vs. Right Hand? Mart "AAH" wrote in message ... Alternative would be MS Works. Eric H,
You might look at OpenOffice.org 2.4.2. It is a free software that is comparible to MS Office products. The 2.4.2 version is the last of their products http://www.filehippo.com/download_openoffice/tech/5061/ "Eric H" wrote: Is it possible to load Office Home and Student 2007 to an old computer running ME.
