cert. of authenticity for windows xp

The sticker on the bottom of my laptop has rubber a
protion of the numbers off for my windows xp.i was having
tbl so i mistakenly used the emergency recovery cd and
wiped out my windows xp program.to upgrade from the
windows ME program that came with my laptop i need to type
in the number.i have half the numbers.how can i contact
microsoft to get the entire number i originally registered
with them.i bought thr windows xp home version from Best
Buy and i got the Windows xp upgrade when i bought my
laptop?.Can someone please help reload windows xp back
onto my laptop?

Just install the XP disk the same way as you did the first time - then
insert the ME disk when it asks (there's no requirement for the ME Product
Key - which is what I assume you're missing - in this instance)
