Default Viewing wide web pages

Win98se IE6SP1 Mozila Firefox. Hi, when looking at most web pages they are
to wide for the screen and I have to keep using the slide bar on the bottom
to look at the whole page, this happens using both IE and Firefox, not such
a big deal but inconvenient. Is there a way to make the page fit the window
in firefox and IE?
Thanks for any suggestions
Kim

You need to increase your screen resolution. If it's set at 640 x 480
increase it to 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768.

Right click a blank area of your desktop. Select Properties, Settings, then
slide the bar to change the screen resolution.

Thanks for that Joe, it was already set to 800x600 so I changed it to
1024x768 which solved the original problem, now is there a way to increase
the size of the text in the drop down menu`s and tool bar icons (for
instance when I do a spell check in OE the popup window is very small) in
IE, OE and firefox. I`ve managed to change the text size in the main windows
of IE, OE and Firefox but in OE I can`t seem to be able to change the text
size in the preview pane or the top pane (the one under the tool bar) or is
it time to pay the optician a visit. Thanks for your time

In OE, click Tools, Options, Read Tab, Fonts Bar, and in Font Size choose
larger or largest. You can also customize your fonts there. In other
words, you can choose the font you want the messages to be displayed in.

what I mean Joe is when i`m in OE an goto a news group the main screen is
split in two, the top half displays the headers which when I click on one it
opens the message in the bottom half at the correct size. what I would like
to do is have the font in the top half the same size as the bottom half.
Regards
Kim

Hi Bob, I`ve tried that and it changes the text size in the main message
body ok, but I want to make the text larger in the preview pane and if
possible in the dropdown menus for example when I click on Viewtext size,
the text in the dropdown menu is very small and so is the text in the fields
under the tool bar (News Server: Newsgroups: Cc: Subject Maybe this is not
possible because I increased the screen resolution?I don`t know. Anyway I
can live with it, it`s my mum who has difficulty seeing it, I suppose I can
always change it back to 800x600. Sorry for being a nuisance. Thanks Kim

I believe the only way you are going to increase the text size in that
particular windows is to decrease the screen resolution. I can't find any
other way to do it.

I don't know what kind of video card software you have, but I have an nVidia
video card in this computer and there's an icon for it in the taskbar. With
just two clicks, I can change the screen resolution.

Try the settings in
Control panel
Display
Appearance
the settings in the drop down list for 'menu'
change the appearance of the menu, drop down list active title bar inactive
title bar can also be changed to fix the display. I just use Windows
Standard Large, that looks pretty good at 1024*728 on 17inch display
