Joe,

If you want to start clean you can Format the drive to erase
everything then install Windows. If not, and you want to re-install
over your present Windows then skip the part about Format and do not
run it.

Boot with a Win98 Startup diskette with CDrom support and enter:

Format C:
When Format starts answer YES for large drive support.
(FAT32)

After the format change to the CDrom drive letter and enter Setup.
The Win98 Startup diskette may create a temporary Ram drive so the
CDrom drive letter may be one higher than normal. e.g. D: to E:
etc. A boot diskette from www.bootdisk.com may use R.
You can make a Win98 Startup diskette from Add/Remove Programs or
run the Fat32ebd.exe file located on the Win98 CD in the
Tools/Mtsutil/Fat32ebd directory.

Make sure you have your product key before you format.
If the CD is an Upgrade you will be asked for proof of a previous
purchase of Windows. A Win95/98 CD will do.

A good way to install Windows is to copy the Win98 folder on the CD
to your HD and run Setup from there from Dos. Like this:

Boot with the Win98 Startup diskette and enter these lines:

C:
md \win98cd
copy D:\win98\*.* C:\win98cd\
where D: is your CDrom. (It may be E: or F
Then run Setup from the Win98cd folder on the HDD from Dos. Setup is
included in the Win98 folder.

Enter this:
C:\win98cd\Setup.exe
Follow the instructions.

After the install anytime Windows needs something from the CD it
will go to the Win98cd folder instead. You won't need the CD.
