Default Configuring 98 for Wi-Max Broadband connection

Having a problem with setting up a Wi-Max internet connection on WIN98SE.
Vendor said all was needed was an ethernet card (NIC). Said the radio would
send everything to the computer and it would just happen. We installed the
card and it says it is working properly in Device Manager. Light on the NIC
is on when connection to WI-Max anttena is attached. Clicking on IE says page
not found. Vendor says it isn't his problem because testing the connection
with a laptop running WINXP works O.K.

I still think there has to be a configuration step on the WIN98 computer. Is
there any Internet Connection setup that needs to be done for this type of
Broadband connection and if so, how to go about it?

Thanks

Ron

Something is badly adrift here, if the vendor said the
NIC would work in a Win98SE PC the way it works in
a WinXP PC. This is not invariably false, but is false
four times out of five, thus is not a safe assumption on
which to base a purchase. You could demand your
money back, but your problem would be proving that
the vendor misstated the case in just this way.

If the NIC is working according to device manager, and if the NIC is
properly connected to the radio modem using the cable provided, and if
Windows networking components have been installed properly, then you are
ready to start the modem setup and configuration process. This will involve
following the instructions provided with the radio modem to direct IE to the
NIC as the source of connection, and then logging on to a special network
location that is provided in the installation instructions for the radio
modem. It will be four groups of three numbers.

What do the installation instructions for the modem say about this part of
the installation procedure?
