Default Can't re-install Win98 because Scandisk won't run

Installing a new board (ASUS P4B), I had to remove and reinstall Win98.
Scandisk won't run. SCANDISK /? works fine, but if I enter just
SCANDISK, or SCANDISK /ALL, or call Scandisk at all, it simply hangs,
doesn't put anything at all on the screen.

This means, I can't install Win98, because the first thing that
happens is that the installer program runs Scandisk to check out
the disks. The only alternate to "RUN SCANDISK" is "EXIT INSTALLER".

There's a bug of some kind in my BIOS, but I don't see how that would
do this to Scandisk.

Advice, suggestions, recipes, explanations, all will be appreciated.

When you start the installation, use: setup.exe /is (the /IS switch
bypasses scandisk)

There's a switch you can use to skip running scandisk during the
install. I think it's setup /is but entering setup /? should give you
all the available switches.

Or an MVP here will know.

If you are running setup from a command line, try:

setup /is

this switch will install Windows without running scandisk..

Good Luck...
