Default Unable to Format New Drive

I just installed a New Drive in my '98 machine, I can't find the way to
format it. Win98 doesn't see it. It's a SCSI Drive, Home Built Machine. Maybe
I'm just going bonkers or something, But I just can't seem to figure this
out. Any Help?

Default Unable to Format New Drive

I tried fdisk from Run in the start menu. It saw my Crive but didn't see
any other drive. Do I need to use my 98 boot disk, Or try fdisk from DOS?

From a DOS boot (via floppy) run FDISK
1. Select the other drive i.e. not the one with C:
(If FDISK does not see your second hard drive,
check it is correctly jumpered and connected.
On reboot the BIOS should display the existence
and size of all hard drives.)
2. Select partition drive size you want
3. Select partition type: extended DOS, assuming
you already have C: which must be Primary DOS.
4. Then make your "logical" drives (identified by letter)
within this ext DOS partition.
Tick to accept large-sized drives, long filenames.
5. Reboot to enact all these changes i.e. write
to the new hard drive.
6. Then each logical drive must be FORMATted
before Windows (or DOS) can use it.

Default Unable to Format New Drive

Do you already have a SCSI drive working in this machine, or is this the
only SCSI drive installed? If you haven't had SCSI working before you need
to follow the procedures set out in the instructions for the SCSI
controller, which may involve configuring the SCSI BIOS, or it may involve
creating a special boot floppy.

If this is a second SCSI drive, then have you checked that it is visible
using the controller BIOS configuration utility?

Default Unable to Format New Drive

If fdisk can't see the drive, there's problem.

How the PC connects to the hard drive is the cut to the solution, the scsi
card.
