What it could cause is long delays in opening Windows Explorer

Wasn`t there something her awhile ago about putting to
much into your "My Documnets" folder?

If so,what could this cause?

In 98 SE I have a problem deleting large numbers of files at once. It
almost locks everything up, but if I wait long enough, it'll clear up.
However, after that if I delete even one file, it'll do the same thing.
It won't come out of it until a reboot.
Now I've been told that this can be caused by having too many files in
My Documents. So I moved almost everything out of My Documents and the
problem still persists. I've followed other suggestions made here like
repairing or reinstalling Internet Explorer, but none of them have
worked. It is not specific to my machine(s). I've run into the same
problem on customers' Win 98 SE computers, trying to delete all the
windows\temp files, for instance.
But don't overload My Documents... I guess it's a fact that it'll slow
other things down too.

For sluggishness in navigating folders: Open Explorer, R-Clk My
Documents in the left pane, & select Properties. How many folders
does it contain? If it is around 100, try moving them out. Reboot.

Is your sluggishness gone? If not, may as well put them back. You &
Colorado are blessed. (Perhaps I am as well.)

Thanks or Good Luck,
There may be humor in this post, and,
Naturally, you will not sue,
should things get worse after this,

Ok, Thanks Gary and the rest for the response.

I thought this had come up a long time ago here,But
couldn`t rem if it would actually cause a lockup crash or
not.

Everything grinds to a near halt until Explorer opens, sometimes, but as far as
I know that's as bad as it gets. Of course my own memory isn't so great these
days, and I've never personally had the problem, nor even seen it in any serious
presentation, since it's always been my habit to not use MD as my main document
storage folder, a habit I try to pass on to my clients.
