Can't open desk folders with Left Click
When I try to open a desktop folder by left clicking on it
I get the following message: Explorer caused an error in WMP DXM.DLL. i click on OK and it takes me back to the desktop but now some of my taskbar icons have disappeared. I can open the folders by right clicking on them and then selecting "Explorer" but obviously something has gone wrong with my system. Help |

Can't open desk folders with Left Click
This problem seems to be the result of a damaged Windows Media Player 9
install and using Windows Explorer's web view rather than classic view. So, as a first suggestion, try reinstalling WMP9. Zachd from Microsoft recently posted in the windowsme.multimedia newsgroup the following reply to a poster experiencing similar problems to those you are seeing. "Hm. Do you get the chance to send a crash report? If so, there may be a crash bucket number that it might be possible to use to glean further information here... This could only really happen if the multimedia view was being at least initiated (if not displayed) for those folders. Obviously, you should be able to get rid of this error by turning off the Web View and switching back to Classic View for your folders. Alternatively and not recommended, you can run "regsvr32 c:\windows\system\msdxm.ocx", which will put WMP6 (not WMP9) back in charge of shell folder multimedia preview. You can run "regsvr32 c:\windows\system\wmpdxm.dll" to undo that." -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP Brian Chamberlain wrote: When I try to open a desktop folder by left clicking on it I get the following message: Explorer caused an error in WMP DXM.DLL. i click on OK and it takes me back to the desktop but now some of my taskbar icons have disappeared.
