Program show "illegal operation" alerts
I use some utility, it came without readme and support(even dont know does
it support win98 or for 2K/XP only). It work, but periodically I get "illegal operation" errors/ alerts, and program need be closed. (it seems errors was due overflow, but I'm not sure). I still use this program because can no find the replacement. So question is can the "illegal operation" errors cause some system files damage or other problems? |

An app that runs OK sometimes and at times produces this error advertises its own warning of inferior programming. Good programmers never overwrite system files but can you know as much about inferior programmers? -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

Program show "illegal operation" alerts
It is likely that these errors would only affect the files that were being
accessed by this program at the time the error occurred. Less likely is that it would affect other files that may be open (which you can partly protect against by not running other applications when running this program). Least likely is that it will affect files not currently in use, or the file system in general. Without knowing what the reason for the fault is, it's not possible to predict what the effects might be. It is certainly possible that an error in an application can cause corruption to the file system, but if you haven't seen a problem by now then I would guess it's not going to suddenly start happening. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (Windows - Shell/User) "mistral" wrote in message ...
