installing windows 98

at my whits end, Ive erased my hard drive, i boot up with floppy disk i
change my settings to r and go threw the process but when the instalat5ion
gets to the enter key lic number it tells me that my product key is invalid,
so i called microsoft they gave me a new one and the same thing happens,can
anyone help i have search microsoft and i come up short.what do i do.

There are different Product Keys for Retail Full or Upgrade versions, and also
different keys for OEM versions. You must supply Microsoft with the correct info as
to what version disc you have in order to get the right key. Call them again and
tell them they gave you the wrong key. Did they make any attempt to identify which
version disc you have?
