You can thank the eternal-september.org newsserver for that
(and those who access this newsgroup via that newsserver;
e.g., hemorrhoi..., er..., thanatoid).

Huh?

Is this for real, or a joke?

Please explain.

Must be a joke, I access this News Group through the Eternal server as
well as Microsoft and aioe.org and all are displayed the same.

Checking and posting through Eternal, seems OK to me.

I'm glad you spelled thanatoid with a small "t" just as he always wants,
but I don't see what a news server can have to do with Explorer folder
settings. Why are you up past your Fall hibernation period &
mean-mouthing Win98 in multiple threads? :-).

Started with Irfan view. When I went to view something, the file
lists were weird, random.

Ok, I've recently done a lot of date searching and that may have left
things wonky.

So, I closed eveything. opened Windows Explorer, selected Name, and
then using options asked everything be like that, rebooted.
yet...still not listed right, worse, now Windows Explorer is starting
to come up with listings random.

What causes this?

I finally went to Windows Explorer, selected Name, and close the
application with ctrl key held down. Then rebooted. Now eveything
is back to the expected. Even Irfan View has alphsabetic listings.

So, what happened?

Thanks or Good Luck,
There may be humor in this post, and,
Naturally, you will not sue,
Should things get worse after this,
