Default usb flash drive not showing up in My Computer

Hi,
I plug a usb flash drive and the computer finds the usb drivers for it.
There is the stop and eject icon on the system tray. However, it does not
show up in My Computer. Is there some drivers that I am missing? what do I
need to install to get usb drives to work?

thanks in advance.

What does the Device Manager have to tell you about the drive? Control
Panel | System | Device Manager. If Win Me is seeing the drive then there
should be an entry for it in Disk Drives.

the drive does show up in Device Manager, under "USB controllers" and
"Storage devices". However, it does not show up in My Computer. That
surprises me. I am not able to access the drive by manually typing "F:\" in
the address bar (i think that would be the name because the CD drive is E

Is it possible that the drive is either unformatted or that it is
formatted using the NTFS filing system? If the first it would need to be
partitioned using fdisk but I admit to never having had to do this with a
usb flash drive but if using the NTFS filing system then Win Me cannot
access drives using this format. However whilst both are possible reasons
I would not expect either to be the cause of the problem you are seeing.
