Default Monitor

When starting computer the monitor is set to 640 x 480 16 colour, if I
immediately reboot it, it then sets the monitor to 800 x 600 32bit colour
which is correct, have any of you any idea what is wrong and how I correct
it.
Thanks

Reboot to Safe Mode
Open Device Manager
Remove ALL Display Adapters
Remove ALL Monitors
Reboot to Normal Mode - Windows will reinstall the required drivers -
hopefully curing your problem.
