The file aegise2.dll is normally included with the associated wi-fi driver.
For example the copy I have on this box was included as part of a driver
from RALINK for my Gigabyte GN-WPKG PCI wi-fi card. This file is not
required for the operation of the card as I let the operating system manage
the connection.

Default Wanted - 'aegise2.dll'

Hi Mike,

My problem is I am unable to complete the 'install' with my WIFI/USB
Adapter.The adapter is for WinXP/Vista whereas I have WinME.I consequently I
downloaded a DRIVER from the manufacturers website, tried to install
it(RALINK), but the DRIVER installation 'hangs' and does not complete?.When
I reboot my system I get message - 'cannot find 'aegise2.dll'.Since then I
have managed to download this file and transferred to the folders containing
*.dll files but again my driver installation 'hangs'.

When I use the op.system to find suitable driver it cannot find one;-
consequently I'm stuck unable to get my USB/WiFi adapter to work!

John,

Two points, I have to repeat that aegise2.dll is part of the driver (an
unnecessary past as I have already mentioned) and not part of the operating
system and as such is included in the driver package. I note however that
you have managed to find a copy elsewhere. Note also that you don't need
the aegis stuff, just the basic driver.

The second and more important point is that unless Win Me drivers are
available for the device you are trying to install then you are sadly out of
luck and should consider acquiring a Win Me compatible device.

Try visiting the website of the manufacturer of the chipset in your device
(mine was RALINK) and see if they have a Win Me driver you can use. If you
can open the package (it might be a zip) check if it has separate Aegis and
Driver branches/folders (and maybe others as well such as SoftAp and
Utility). If it has, extract just the driver folder and then try updating
the Wi-fi driver by pointing it at the inf file in the driver folder as this
will ensure that just the driver is installed.
