No LAN status icon in Win98 (easy one I hope)
JohnnyC wrote:
Hello, I sometimes have reason to check whether I am getting any data movement through my DSL router, and am noticing that there does not appear to be any way to get the little network activity icon to show up in the notification area in the bottom right corner (near the clock). I have a laptop for work with XP on it, and it has such a thing. A single click and it brings up a summary window of packets sent, etc. I notice that in XP, there is a little checkbox which says "show icon in notification area when connected" in the General tab of the LAN properties window. Is there any way to get it to show up in Win98 SE ? Thanks for your help, - john There is a "Net Watcher" app included with Win98se. I don't know if it will provide an icon or not but you could try that. It may not install by default so you may have to install it to find out. CPAdd Remove ProgWindows Setup and make sure Net Watcher is selected in System Tools. Please post back if this give you the sys tray icon. -gm |
