Default Computer always starts in safe mode

My computer freezes and when I reboot it always starts in
safe mode, even when I have a choice of safe or normal.
Is this fixable or do I have to reformat and reinstall
windows 98?

I think you need to provide full details on what is going on when the
computer freezes. Is one particular program involved, is there a certain
action you take that causes it, are there any error messages and, if so,
what are they exactly, etc? Once that is cured, we can try to fix the safe
mode problem if it still exists.

It freezes up while I am in WordPerfect 11. If forgot to
add that once I reboot, it performs the scandisk, then
gives me the option of safe or normal mode. There are no
error messages.

I don't use WordPerfect but what I'd do is uninstall the program, reboot and
reinstall it. If no luck, maybe you could try a different newsgroup or
contact Corel tech support or visit their web site.
