trouble starting windows 98

Freezes even when I am on the internet. I shut down and
can only get on the net by back door. All my icons come
up on the desk top. But I cannot open them. Ctrl,
alt,delete I have to end task always stuck on Wintsvtr.

Get rid of Wintsvtr
This may remove it.

You may also stop it from starting by disabling it in Msconfig.
(Start-Run-MSCONFIG-Startup tab)
If you cannot see anything in Msconfig then:

Start-Run-msinfo32
Click the + beside Software Environment to expand.
Click Startup Programs
Ctrl+A to Select All, Ctrl+C to Copy.
Paste that information in your message.
