Default unable to save password

Hi,

can anyone help?
I seem to have difficulty saving my password. The box
(where you usually tick for the password to be saved) is
greyed, so each time i log onto the computer i have to
type my password in again, it does not seem to want to
save it. I have windows 98 (old/first edition) and i was
told, this was a problem with this edition. However, if
anyone knows how this problem can be resolved, i'd be
immensely grateful. I did find through microsoft support
that if you delete username.pwl this may help - but it
hasn't seemed to fix the problem at all....

Looking forward to your suggestions
Lisa

There should be a file in the Windows directory with a PWL extension
PassWordList , delete that, reboot and you may have to reenter all your
passwords.
