As far as I know Win Me does not contain the necessary drivers to see SATA
controllers which need to be added after installation meaning that whilst
a SATA drive can be used as a second hard disk once the drivers have been
added in to Win Me a SATA drive cannot be the only drive on a Win Me
system.

Hi Mike, perhaps if I create a winme boot floppy with dos sata driver can I
setup a winme system?

Thanks for your time

I don't think so. I think the only way to do this would be to add in the
necessary SATA driver to the Win Me cab set using something like msbatch
from the Win 98 Resource kit however even then I'm not sure whether this
will allow the system to be installed on to a SATA drive however since I
have never tried this, this is purely speculation on my part.

The closest I've probably ever got is installing Win Me on an old scsi
system I have here but that was so long ago I remember few of the details
other than that I know that it was almost impossible to install it on a
scsi drive when an ide drive was also present, and the easiest way round
the problem was to temporarily disable the ide drive during the
installation.
