Default dial up window

The dial-up window, the one I use to start my telephone
call to my internet provider, keeps popping up uncalled
for. This is a nuisance only, except when trying to run a
game, like Myst, which crashes when that dial-up window
appears. The popping up seems to be, maybe, a response to
my movement of the mouse. It's as if whatever calls up
that window has a nervous trigger finger. This unwanted
popping up occurs, mostly, when preparing to go on line,
as when Internet Explorer and/or Outlook express is
running. Thanks for any help. Larry D

Such errors are often caused by spyware - download AdAware from
www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

Thanks. I found the culprit. McAfey's spamkiller
automatically checks for updates, but that option can be
deselected. ljd
