questions on display and performance...
When I go to control
paneldisplaysettingsadvancedperformance what does "accelerator function" do? and, what does it mean when I move the bar to the max when it says "use if your computer does not experience any problems"?? What kind of problems is it talking about? And another question. I have a nVidia 100/200 video card. on its properties it says "refresh rate." What does the refresh rate do? Is the refresh rate commonly associated with problems one can experience during full-screen programs? Before I got the video card, I used to be able to run full- screen programs. However, now, as the screen adjusts to the program's settings, one of those "illegal operation" screens pop up, and my computer freezes. How can I solve this? It happens with all of my programs. Thanks in advance, Rich |

questions on display and performance...
The more acceleration that is selected then the more of the processing work
is shifted from the PC to the video card. Since not all video cards are fully compatible with Windows then full acceleration sometimes produces odd effects, like windows failing to refresh or images left behind on screen as windows are moved or closed. You will quickly notice any problems associated with having too much acceleration. Refresh rate is the number of times per second that a fresh image is sent to the monitor. Generally, you should select the highest rate that your monitor supports, but any rate above where you can detect flickering is OK in practice. Whether or not the refresh rate is associated with problems using full screen mode depends on what those problems are, but I would think it is unlikely. -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (DTS) "Rich" wrote in message ...
