DBX File
Can DBX files be looked at directly ?
My reason for asking; In C:\WINDOWS Opened: Identities OE DBX files. Wanted to see what was contained in one that looked strange. D/Ced it and file ID box came up (chose file type), and I checked the file name, without noting that it was the 'always'. (big mistake ?) Now all DBX files come up as "Explorer". When D/Ced. Can this be changed ? |

Tried. TY !. Can't get to there from here.
Only Chat.Net, then no FAQS page..... More importantly; will the change of file association to eExplorer for the DBX files, screw up OE in any way ? And can it be changed ? I'm looking 'HOW' to change the association..... |

... More importantly; will the change of file association to eExplorer for the DBX files, screw up OE in any way ? And can it be changed ? You do not need to change any File Associations in order to browse an alien DBX file: 1. Note its filepath 2. In OE, create a new folder and log to it 3. / File / Import to import contents of the DBX file. 4. When satisfied, you can / Select / Move particular emails; and then / Delete the folder. -- Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada) |

If you're familiar with Registry editing, you can go to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and delete the entire ".dbx" key (note the leading period.) That will remove the association you created. But that association is only a nuisance, nothing more. Just means that when you d-click the file directly, it will try to use Explorer. Doesn't affect OE operations. -- Gary S. Hi Bill
Strange--I tried the link before I made the post and it worked. Still not working right now so must be a server problem or something. -- Regards Ron Badour, MS MVP for W98 Tips: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour Knowledge Base Info: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=kbinfo "Bill in Co." wrote in message ...
