How do I get the volume control back up and working, no
sound at all.

Your question is quite vaguely worded, *and* you fail to mention which OS
you are using. So without adequate info at my disposal I'll suggest: Control PanelAdd/remove programswindows set-up tabmultimediadetailsvolume control. Checked or not? If checked, UN-check itOKapplyOK out. Re-boot if needed. After re-boot repeat the process again, this time placing a tick in the volume control box. ThenControl panelmultimediacheckmark "show volume control on taskbar" (in Systray actually)applyOK out.
