Battery Status Icon missing in systray
I noticed last night, when my laptop suddenly dropped dead from no
battery power, that the battery status icon is missing from the system tray. How do I put it back? I'm running Win98SE with the latest 'n greatest updates from Microsoft. Thanks, David |

Start Settings Control panel Power Management Advanced tab:
put a check in the box to 'show the icon on the taskbar', and click OK. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "David" wrote in message oups.com... That program isn't MS, I don't think. It's proprietary from the maker of
the laptop. You're going to have to find out where the settings for that are and re-set the "Icon in Tray" item. You'll probably find it in Control Panel. One thing to check first---have you used MSCONFIG to disable any items from the Startup processes? If so, perhaps you simply disabled the battery monitor there. -- Gary S. Really? That also handles battery monitoring? (As you can tell, I don't
work on many laptops, s.) -- Gary S. Terhune MS MVP Shell/User http://www.grystmill.com/articles/cleanboot.htm http://www.grystmill.com/articles/security.htm "glee" wrote in message ... Well, it did on all Win95 since the Gold version, and the control panel applet is
basically the same in 98, so I would assume so....don't have any Win98 laptops around. AFAIR, WinXP does the same. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Gary S. Yes it does. Yet as you mentioned, the manufacturer may install there own PM
util. If they do and you try to open either Power Options or Display Screen Saver Power, a popup should display directing you to use the manufacturers installed utility which should also be located in Control Panel. -- Brian A. Got ya. Makes all kinds of sense. Now that you detail it, I can vaguely
recall that stuff appearing in PM on a few systems I've seen. -- Gary S.
