Distorted sounds
My computer is set to dual-boot with Windows 98SE and Windows 2000
Professional. Win2KPro is the default, and both OS's are completely up-to-date. I have the QTEC 552S soundcard installed on "both" computers, and I have up-to-date drivers on both. The card works perfectly in Win2K; however, I'm getting a considerable distortion and what sounds like "wow and flutter" when I play sound files with the WIN98SE operating system. Even the "Windows Start" sound flutters, and parts of it repeat, when I boot up in Windows 98. However, one proviso; "Windows Start" plays perfectly when I run it as an "Event" from Control PanelSounds. I've tried removing the card from the system; I did remove the old drivers before updating; but all to no avail. And I know the hardware side's OK as the card operates fine in Win2KPro. The Win98 device manager shows no conflicts, and both the Emulation and AudioDrive devices are shown as "working properly". Any thoughts or guidance as to where to go from here will be greatly appreciated. |
