Windows Messenger 6
Hello, my mother has an older Compaq with Windows 98 first edition. About
a month ago, she got a message that a new version of Messenger 6.2 was available. She downloaded it and lost her ability to have voice chat or transfer files with me. I use Windows XP with Messenger versions 4.7. Before this download, she and I were able to use the chat, file transfer and voice chat features. I asked her to uninstall the new versions and install the older version 6, which she saved when she downloaded it nearly 8 months ago. After 6 is installed, she is prompted to update Messenger to 6.2 again. It won't let her log into version 6, if forces her to update Messenger to the newest version. How can I help her completely remove 6.2 from her system? Are there links for Windows 98 that will show me how to edit the register after using add/remove so I can remove all traces of Messenger 6.2? Or, is there a fix for this problem with the new versions so she can have her voice chat and file transfer features working properly again? Thanks, Lee |

I am not sure why, but try both running either "Windows
Messenger" or both try running "MSN Messenger" They should interact with one another, but maybe there is a glitch. Good Luck!
