Default Invalid syntax error

What might be the cause and a possible remedy for this error, which has to
do with IE6?
It prohibits one from opening any webpages.
Presumably I ran into this problem quite some time ago, but don't remember
the details.
Thanks.

Harry.

To all,
it is my duty to answer my own question:
After inspecting the homepage address, I discovered that I had omitted one
slash in it.
At the risk of ridiculing myself, I am ruefully withdrawing my question.
Everything is up and running again, thank you.

Harry.
