web site troubles
Hello there, I am not sure if this is an IE problem or
not, but as of late,Windows Media Player will not allow me to back out of a site after viewing through media player. I have to exit the site totally and then open IE(ver 6) again to scroll the rest of the site. This problem happens with MSNBC, google news canada, and a few others. Could the problem be with IE? I do have the latest version and update regularly. Thanks for any info. Doug |

Perhaps post one of the sites in question. I have a vague recollection =
of two things... (1) Do you have a HOSTS file, such as...?... http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm .... Then, it may be blocking the Back key. See that URL for an = explanation why & how to determine which site is causing it. To = temporarily disable the HOSTS file... (a) "START button, Find, F/F, HOSTS". (b) You may get 3 or 4 them. LOOK for the one that is just "HOSTS", with NO file type such as ".sam". (c) R-Clk it, select Rename, & name it "xHOSTS". There is no need to reboot. Does the site work now? Fine. Rename it back afterwards, as I do. (2) There was an optional MS update that spoke of something like that. = Something about "sound", actually. So... (a) "START button, Windows Update". (b) Click to do the scan. (c) I guess, take any criticals it shows. (d) NOW, in the left pane, click the suggested/optional/whatever Windows = 98 link. Look for the one mentioning "sound", & read it carefully, like = I did. (I never took it, though.) --=20 Thanks or Good Luck, There may be humor in this post, and, Naturally, you will not sue, should things get worse after this, PCR "Doug" wrote in message = ... | Hello there, I am not sure if this is an IE problem or=20 | not, but as of late,Windows Media Player will not allow me=20 | to back out of a site after viewing through media player.=20 | I have to exit the site totally and then open IE(ver 6)=20 | again to scroll the rest of the site.
