Default Computer Locking-UP

I have Window 98 operating system. lately after a few key
strokes if the computer remains idle for more than a
minute, the system locks-up and has to be reset. I ran a
demo program that said I had Invalid CLSID errors, and
corrupt help files. Are these error related to my
computer registery? Any suggestions on how to get my
computer performing smoothly?
Thanks
GT
