Default Recycle Bin issue

When I try to delete an icon from the desktop I get the message, 'Recycle Bin
Format is Invalid. Do you want to continue?'. The machine freezes at this
point, and I have to press the power button to turn it off.

Boot to DOS
at the prompt, type the following (with a [Return] at the end of each line

C:
CD \
DELTREE C:\RECYCL~1

Shut down, and reboot

then check your Recycle bin again

First try scandisk. (Start-Run-Scandisk C. If that doesn't solve the
problem, reboot, when the text 'Windows 98 is booting' appears hit F8.
You'll get a boot menu. Choose 'Command prompt only'.
On the command prompt type:

deltree C:\Recycled enter

When you've also a D drive:

deltree D:\Recycled enter

etc.

Reboot (press ctrl-alt-del).
Windows will create a new recyclebin.
