I attempted to install an ADAPTEC 2930 SCSI card and a
second CD-RW drive. After installing the SCSI drive and
restarting, I received a blue screen indicating that there
was incompatible hardware and that the system would
restart in compatibility mode the next time.

It apparently did, and does not recognize the CD-ROM or
the CD-RW units. I then removed the SCSI card and
restarted, but the CD drives still are not recognized.

I need to know how to switch back to the 32-(something)
mode, or get the system to recognize the CD drives.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

S.B. Flatt

Control panel, system, performance tab: is there any comment about MSDos
compatibility mode?

Yes, it gives both the "Compatibility Mode paging..."
message and the "Drive 'C' is using..."

See if the information in the following knowledge base articles helps. The

contain the solution. The articles start getting more specialized as you go

I think I have located and corrected the problem that may
have caused the jump to compatibility mode.

I still don't know how to force the "C" drive out of
compatibility mode into a normal operating mode.

Can you help?
