Default Microsoft Internet Explorer Error Message??

When accessing most websites I am getting a pop up screen that says "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered
a problem and needs to close... we are sorry for the inconvenience etc.". When I click on don't send or the other message it sends me back to my default home screen. I have run both McAfee and Norton's and find no viruses. Does anyone have a suggestion??? I am using Windows 98 and IE6.0.

We need more information to be able to help you. Click on the details button
(or details link) when your system crshes and provide:

xxx caused an xxx in xxx at xxx:xxxx

or if you are using a later operating system, provide information about the
files (modules) involved in the crash.

If you are using the Error Reporting Tool, disable it so you can access the
error message in a more understandable form. Informationon how to disable
the Error Reporting Tool is he

MS has not disowned Win98, and you have provided insufficient information.

Norton and Macafee are both useless, if you google the newsgroups for either
name you will find endless reports of them missing things, and Norton causing
worse problems than viruses by bad programming(almost a MS product ha ha),
there are anti virus software that work, and many of them are free, try also
adaware and spybot for other malware not classed as viruses but destructive in
its own way
repost with as much detail of the error report as is available and one of the
people here who actually knows what they are doing will probably be able to
tell you the exact fix
