Hi-ya PCR Pro,
Yeah.... I won't hold my breath for a fix though!!
I do watch this thread!!
Had a potential threat to my puter... rec'd a virus threat... a virus laden
java jar.
Was out doing a Google search, trying to help my sister, did a search on
Common Hijacker, opened a page and zap. Pc-cillin opened and halted all
Internet traffic, took 4 attempts before successful quarantine occured.
The virus was..... JAVA_BYTEVER.B
After, Trend Micro pg. for this virus opened and I read about the virus and
was taken to Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-011, the virus exploits a
problem w/Microsoft VM, next I went to Windows Update and viewed my
installation history to make sure I had the patch for the fix to VM, I was
good.
I was SAVED, but I'm now hardly using IE, thinking about downloading
Firefox. Have you downloaded Firefox ???

I am holding my breath for 10 seconds at a time every ten hours, owing
to the rare yet encouraging hit & run visit of MSFT personage... uh,
Bryant, it was... over Kb891711. After all, there was a song a while
back about lightning striking twice, &, now, cquirke has made it plain
to MS there are many affected.

Yikes, JAVA_BYTEVER.B! Sounds like Pc-cillin did a fine job, I'm glad to
hear. I've never been told by McAfee that a virus tried to infect me. I
know McAfee works, because it passes all four of those Eicar tests...
http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm
Of course, I'm not a traveling man. But certainly a ton of junk has come
into my Inbox, which, actually I rarely open, but just delete.

I'm ALMOST tempted to ask you what the site was that had the thing. If
ever you decide to post it on your own, be sure to muss it so it won't
work w/o fiddling. I'm not asking, though!

I

created

| | | | I have more than 3000 graphic files in that fldr. I moved

Windows

| | | |
| | | | Posting to support the documentation of this problem and

| | | | ......Quote.................
| | | | Specifically, the version of Windows Explorer that comes
| with IE
| | 6
| | | | gobbles up all of a system's available memory resources
| whenever
| | the
| | | | user deletes a large number of files or empties the
recycle

| | | These
| | | | resources are never given back to the system and the

| | | | snowball, affecting the user's ability to open programs,
| open

| | | | ......EOQ...................
| | | |
| | | | It has the ring of truth, because, in my last test/two
of
| it,
| | there
| | | | actually was a resources error message involved near the
end

| | the
| | | | delete. Yet, Resource Meter appeared to be unaware of
it,

| | | |

&

| | | before
| | | | the error will occur.
