Rogue file "~"

I said much the same, that is that my Win Me does not create a ~ file when
the address book is amended, in my post to John John posted 20:51 GMT on
23 Feb. The reason I can't be definitive as to whether it was fixed by
823353 is that I'm not sure that box ever created a tilde file, or if it
did, it was never on the desktop possibly due to my using non standard
locations for the address book and desktop.

Don't know exactly when it stopped, but, my machine no longer creates
the tilde file after altering the address book. I did install the 823353
for
Outlook Express and that may have been what made the difference.
