Serial Mouse Problem
I have an old computer, a pentium 133 mhz with 32 mb ram running windows XPSE
which a friend gave me recently. It had no mouse, so I had to buy an old serial mouse as it only had a serial port and no PS2 port. I booted up and installed the mouse drivers and everthing worked great. However, as soon as I turned the power off and rebooted, I got the message that windows had`nt detected a mouse, and I had to reinstall it, restart and then the mouse is fine again. The mouse is fine if I do a restart, but whenever I turn the power off it disappears! Does anyone have any ideas what might cause this? Many Thanks -- geoff |

Have a look in the BIOS setup program and make sure that
the serial port that the mouse is on is enabled. Or make sure that a setting called something like Plug and Play OS (PnP OS) is enabled. It looks as if Windows has to install the mouse driver every time Windows starts, which it wouldn't have to do if the BIOS settings were correct. See this page on the BIOS if you don't know what it is: http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/BIOS.htm Eric, http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/ http://www.sharedbirthday.co.uk/ -----Original Message----- I have an old computer, a pentium 133 mhz with 32 mb ram running windows XPSE which a friend gave me recently.
