As I said - you need to RUN the program you download, it then creates the
boot disk, Simply copying the file to the floppy doesn't do the job. The OEM one is the correct one for your purposes - the Alt1 and Alt2 are exactly the same, they just come from different places in case the first site is down -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's wrote in message ... ok well no luck..went to bootdisk.com to download a start up disk and having problems... it wont start up my puter.. any help would by nice..oh yeah whats the difference OEM,ALT1and ALT2... i downloaded OEM. but it don't do anything..please help.. -----Original Message----- Good Luck -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's wrote in message ... k thanks i think i am going to go to bed and the try to do my puter in the morning.. wish me luck... think i'll call my brother-in-law he's pretty good with puters.. maybe he'll help me out.. well again thanks alot.. you have a good night ..and i'll post back here and let ya know how things turn out..might be a couple of days but i'll post!! bye for now candy -----Original Message----- Just follow the instructions I pointed you at, and you can't go too far wrong - If it's too confusing, get a more computer-savvy friend to help you out (but make sure that they have actually done the same thing themselves before - successfully!) -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's wrote in message . .. this is hard! all i want is to wipe it clean!i printed all my e-mail adresses and other stuff i want. the rest can go.. now i just want my puter clean.. but i dont understand how to do it ... i have been read different web sites for about 3 and a half hours now and the thing that gets me is Reformating i dont understand that. like i said i am dumb when it comes to this damn puter...lol. -----Original Message----- You can't uninstall an OS, unless it's an upgrade You can't boot from any WinME CD - unless it's a manufacturer's Recovery disk You can create your own Emergency Boot Disk (Startup Disk) either by using the wizard at Add/Remove Programs |Startup Disk, or by downloading a boot disk maker from www.boootdisk.com (get the ME OEM one - it's the same one that you'll create from A/R Progs), and running the download on your PC to create the floppy. -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's wrote in message . .. what will happen if i go in and uninstall windows millennium edition?will that wipe it clean? then put the windows cd in and run it will it reinstall it? -----Original Message----- safety floppy?????didnt do that didnt know i had to.. reformat? i have no clue how to do that.. when it comes to this thing i am dumb..lol... -----Original Message----- Boot from the Safety Boot floppy you made when you installed ME. Reformat the hard drive Windows is on. Reinstall ME from the CD. (Is it a full install - not an upgrade version?) Make sure you backup or save everything you'll want when you reinstall ME.
