You need special software to create screen saver. Visual Basic is one of
them. You need to know programming. Just try here. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...=Google+Search -- Henri Leboeuf Web page: http://www.colba.net/~hlebo49/index.htm === "shuranda" wrote in message ... i am on windows 98, and i want to know how can u import a screen saver either from a photo you already have saved on your pc or from a website. |

Hi, By screen saver, you mean a static picture displayed as a "background" for your desktop as opposed to a program that rotates images, etc. while your PC is idle, right? One way to do it is to right click your desktop, but not on an icon, and select properties from the menu. Go to the "Background" tab and click the browse button to navigate to the file you want to use. (You can also get to the Display Properties by going to Control PanelDisplay.) There are some freeware programs that accomplish this also, such as Webshots: www.webshots.com. Irfanview, which is an image viewing/editing tool, can also do it for you: http://www.irfanview.com BTW, the terms "background" and "(desktop)wallpaper" mean the same thing; screen saver usually refers to a program that rotates images or animations. Also, while viewing images on line, when you right-click somewhere in an image you'll get a menu that includes "Set As Wallpaper...". MM |

open the picture right click on it and select Set as Background. -----Original Message----- shuranda wrote: i am on windows 98, and i want to know how can u import a screen saver either from a photo you already have saved on your pc or from a website. Hi, That depends on what they are using for an image viewer; if it is IE, then yes, that will work. Other image viewers don't necessarily work that way. Many find IE to be a less than adequate image viewing utility, the same goes for "Picture Viewer" or whatever it's called. MM |

Mostly Me (MM) wrote in message ... BTW, the terms "background" and "(desktop)wallpaper" mean the same thing; Actually, they don't. If you click the Pattern button, you'll realize that you can have a background without having wallpaper, The bland green standard Windows background that you get right after a fresh install, before you have had a chance to select a wallpaper, is just one example. |

Hi, Sure, I see what you mean. The wallpaper is actually in "front" of the background, unless you select "none" as wallpaper, then you have a black background, no matter what pattern you have chosen. But, rightly or wrongly, the terms are often interchanged, probably because wallpaper frequently covers (or can be set to cover) the entire screen and thus becomes the background, at least as far the human eye is concerned. You can make your own,
do a search at your favorite freeware site. I have used this -very easy. Picture and Sound Show PictShow31 (383kb) JoelTechnologies.com I think from simtelnet ------------------------------------ I used this when wanting to give to someone. 2Flyer Screensaver Builder Version 2.1 (fsaver 1514kb) can also email and share the screensaver info:http://www.2flyer.com ftp://ftp.singnet.com.sg/pub/systems...ave/fsaver.zip mae ------------------------------------- "shuranda" wrote in message ... | i am on windows 98, and i want to know how can u import a | screen saver either from a photo you already have saved on | your pc or from a website. |

You can change the background to whatever color you want.
Mine is presently blue. Wallpaper is small pictures of grandkids, and does not cover the whole screen. Can do whatever you choose. mae -------------------------------- "Mostly Me (MM)" wrote in message ... | Hugh Candlin wrote: | Mostly Me (MM) wrote in message ... | | BTW, the terms "background" and "(desktop)wallpaper" mean the same | thing; | | | Actually, they don't.
