Win 98 se cd
Gary S. Terhune wrote:
Explain please? Where in the world is it not a crime to distribute pirated copies of Windows? Have some countries decided that it's totally OK, or maybe they split the difference and greatly shortened the amount of time copyright applies to software? I've heard that the EU has done some changing of EULAs, but are they universally applied or do the special rules only apply to MS, or what? I'll not talk about Iran. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_and_copyright_issues The OP asks for an image of a CD. He doesn't mention, but he can have a license, and have lost or scratched his CD, or even never have had a CD, because he bought his computer with a licensed windows preinstalled without CD. In this case (if he has a license), AFAIK it's legal here in Europe to get a copy of the CD elsewhere. MS doesn't provide W98 CD's anymore, but that doesn't mean your license is void when you lost your CD. |

You don't really need to post your routing number, you're SSN will suffice. Correction: Should have been 'your SSN'. Besides, if someone were dumb enough to do it they would probably wouldn't have recognized the spelling error either. |

So, how close are we really now to George Orwell's 1984 in 2008 with security
video cameras around, digital passports, new driver licenses, etc. How much freedom will we give up as Americans for security or will we trust in a higher power for true internal safety rather than a fascade of external security. As you can see, both are needed and important but the true strength and rock comes from within and not from without. Riddle this and Riddle that mind you all. Exactly, shall we take a guess that Slow Learner is just say 15 years old ---
hence his due --- to the outburst and post I guess nickname. Sincerity and Flattery do indeed help in this day and age as in most days and ages. grin "Gary S. Terhune" wrote: Look, SlowLearner15... Why doesn't the op just contact Microsoft -- they have always been helpful to
me and still are very helpful to me although I have points of disagreement with them and agree with Chris Quirke's mvp's stance on the issue of things to do with external security and internal safety. Heck, if the op wants a free os then why not just go with Ubuntu Linux and Mozilla Firefox which are both free and legal. In addition, perhaps the op has some friends who no longer use Windows 98 Second Edition and have a cd that they will give to him and transfer the license and cd to him and thus provide op with needed solution. him is just a guess and if it is a her then kindly respond so we can all clear matters up and not be under a Blue Cloud of Confusion "Ingeborg" wrote: Gary S. Exactly, Ebay last time I checked was around $75 up from $50 for a full
retail copy of Windows 98 Second Edition. I guess 98 Second Edition is becomming popular again what with Dan K's research and DNS Pollution everywhere. "Lil' Dave" wrote: "learningfast15" wrote in message ... I was wondering how i could find a copy of the Windows 98 SE Installation CD for free. Can one of you send me a disc image or tell me a website or somthing. thanks. You can make your own free copy when you buy the original. (Only make one copy). Prices seem to start from 46 for OEM full version, and 89 for retail full version. That's U.S. dollars. Ebay may be less expensive. Only the person in possession of the license for, and in possession of the original installation CD, may make a backup copy of that original. That is, one copy only. You may also make an ISO copy, as long as only one physical CD backup copy of the original exists at any one time. -- Dave |

But it *is* in contravention of the EULA, even in Europe, to make unlawful
copies and distribute them. I didn't say the OP would necessarily be committing a crime by using such a copy. My point was that the legitimate owner would be doing so by providing the copy. The act of distributing an illicit copy of the software is called "piracy". I doubt even Europe managed to ditch that part of the EULA. That is the crime that I was speaking of, which crime the OP is *soliciting*, which, at least in the US, is itself a crime. -- Gary S.
