Another nail in the W98 coffin?

Surprise, surprise.
Guess what has found it's way back onto the Start Add/Remove list a couple
of times?
Without asking! Without clicking 'Yes' to anything!
Yep! Adobe Flash X. Deleted and uninstalled twice.
Once when I was just checking the list for something and once when I was
checking the list for IT after getting that error message again.

Could Adobe Reader 5 or MSNBC be doing it automatically if they think I need
it?
Haven't used Adobe Reader in at least a week.

Will not visit MSNBC for a while and then maybe dump Adobe Reader, too.
Maybe I can figure out how/why it keeps re-insinuating itself.

Make sure you do NOT have Enable Install on Demand (both/either) checked in
IE {Advanced Settings] or any other browser [whatever respective term] to
allow this to occur.
Also check Prompt for the various scripting allowances in Security, Java,
and other setable areas.

Do a HD search for Flash and ShockWave [likely in System and/or User
profile]

Keith, you may be infected with software baddies:

Follow MEB's advice below as well as I would suggest customizing Internet
Explorer settings, blocking 3rd party cookies and not allowing session
cookies by using the advanced tab in the latest version of IE for 98, please
make sure if you use JAVA that you have the latest JAVA version installed as
well as removing all prior versions, etc. Here is a list I would also
suggest for starters:

1. Install SpywareBlaster --- it stops a lot of baddies from getting onto
Windows 98
2. What antivirus and software firewall are you using -- are they infected?
3. If you have Windows 98 Scripting Host installed --- Remove it
4. Install and use another browser like Mozilla Firefox 2.x latest version
5. Are you using a hardware router and if so -- what kind of router?
6. Are you connected by a wire or wirelessly?
7. Are you using broadband or narrowband?
8. Are you reading email in plain text and blocking remote images?
9. Install Spybot Search and Destroy and do a full scan for baddies
10. Do you notice any other funny or small software in add/remove programs?
This should get you started with making your internet browsing experience
safer
