Default notebook screen is too dim

I have an HP pavilion 5350 (notebook)running Windows Me
(Pentium III). the screen brightness after a stand by
does not increase .... does not matter whether I press
Fn+F2 or Fn+F4 or F3... in short no response. I can
barely see the words on the screen. If I connect an
external monitor .... no problem everything is bright.
Help

Screen brightness on notebooks tends to be controlled by hardware and has
little or nothing to do with the operating system you are using. I would
suggest contacting HP for help with this problem.
